If you’re using Hostinger’s Website Builder and want to track your site’s performance, setting up Google Analytics is a crucial step. This guide walks you through exactly how to connect your website to Google Analytics and start collecting visitor data in just a few minutes.
Step 1: Create a Google Analytics Account
First, head to analytics.google.com and click Start Measuring. Choose an account name (for example, your website name) and continue through the setup steps:
- Set a property name (again, your website name is a good choice)
- Choose your time zone and currency
- Fill in your business category and size
- Select your business objectives (e.g. generate leads, drive sales, understand traffic)
Once complete, click Create and accept Google’s terms.
Step 2: Set Up a Data Stream
After your account is created, you’ll need to set up a web data stream:
- Choose “Web” when asked where your data will come from
- Enter your website URL
- Enable Enhanced Measurement for deeper insights into scrolls, clicks, file downloads, and more
- Click Create Stream and copy the Measurement ID
Step 3: Add Google Analytics to Hostinger Website Builder
Now that you have your Measurement ID, log in to your Hostinger dashboard:
- Go to Websites and select Edit Website for the relevant site
- Click the three dots (More Settings) > Integrations
- Scroll to Google Analytics and paste your Measurement ID
- Click Save and update your site
Step 4: Verify the Connection
Back in Google Analytics, wait a few moments (up to 48 hours) and check the Real-Time Reports. You should start to see live user activity. You can monitor:
- User location
- Pages visited
- Session duration
- Page views per session
