If you’ve already published your website using Hostinger Website Builder and want to switch to a different template, you may have noticed that Hostinger doesn’t allow direct template swapping after publishing. But don’t worry — there’s a simple workaround.
In this post, you’ll learn exactly how to change your website template in Hostinger without losing your content or structure.
Step 1: Log In and Create a Backup
Start by logging into your Hostinger account. Go to the “Websites” section and duplicate your current site. This acts as a manual backup since the website builder doesn’t offer flexible built-in template switching.
After duplicating your site, refresh the page to confirm that your backup version is saved.
Step 2: Delete the Original Site
Once you’ve backed up your site, you can safely delete the original website. Click the delete button and confirm that you understand all data and subdomains will be removed. Refresh the dashboard to ensure the site has been deleted.
Step 3: Add a New Website and Choose a Template
Click on “Add Website” and select Hostinger Website Builder. From here, choose the new template you want to use by clicking “Use Pre-Made Templates.” For this tutorial, we chose a clean, modern layout — but feel free to browse the available designs.
Once selected, click “Go Live.”
Step 4: Connect Your Domain
After publishing your new template, return to the Hostinger HPanel. Your newest site appears at the top of the list. Click on it and then connect your existing domain. In this example, we used benutorial.com
. Confirm domain ownership, and you’re done!
Final Result
Your domain now points to your freshly designed website using the new template, while your previous site version is preserved as a backup.
